From Asheville take I-40 West . From the intersection of I-40 and I-26 travel 18 miles to Exit 27, Hwy 19/23/74 West, going towards Atlanta/Cherokee/Waynesville/Bryson City. You will see signs labeling this highway the 'Great Smoky Mountain Expressway'. Stay on this four lane highway for 49 miles - DO NOT EXIT- .

 Close to the Nantahala Gorge the road narrows to two lanes at the intersection of Hwy 19/74 and Hwy 28 to Fontana. From this intersection Highway 19/74 is labeled, 'The Scenic Waters Byway' and you are approximately 20 miles from Andrews, and about 30 miles from the 'Moonlight Reflections' cabin, passing the Nantahala Outdoor Center and the US Forest Service Nantahala River Launch Site Park (Alternative Route) and Topton NC on the way.

Shortly before Andrews NC the road becomes a four lane highway. Just after arriving on the four lane take Hwy 19 to the left into Andrews. Turn left on Junaluska Road, continue for 8 miles on Junaluska Road. Look for a sign on right for Nantahala Shores. Just beyond the sign, turn right onto Big Choga Road. Continue on Big Choga Road for about 3.3 miles. Stay on the pavement; do not turn onto any gravel or dirt roads. After crossing the one lane bridge, Highlander Road is the second road on the right. DO NOT take the first entrance to Old Faber Road, the GATE IS PADLOCKED.   Just about 10 feet before the pavement ends, turn RIGHT onto HIGHLANDER ROAD and pass through the gated stone entrance to Glen Hay. Shortly after the gate, turn RIGHT onto Old Faber Road. Turn onto the first driveway on the LEFT to get to 'A Lake Memory' log cabin. Approx. driving time from Andrews is 20 min.

The 2 to 2 1/2 hour, 110 mile trip is a beautiful scenic drive through the valleys of the Western North Carolina Mountains.

Alternative Route:
At the US Forest Service Nantahala River Launch Site Park turn left onto Wayah Rd go 4.1 miles, turn right at Old River Rd - go 3.3 miles, turn right at Dicks Creek Rd - go about 3.8 miles, turn left onto Big Choga Rd. Continue on Big Choga Road for about 3.3 miles. Stay on the pavement; do not turn onto any gravel or dirt roads. After crossing the one lane bridge, Highlander Road is the second road on the right.
