'A Lake Memory' is located in the
gated Glen Hay community on the western arm of Nantahala Lake, also
called Aquone Lake on some maps. It is closest to the town of
Andrews but also near Hayesville, and Franklin.
From downtown Andrews NC:
Go East on Main Street/US 19 Business and turn right on Junaluska
Road. After about 6 miles on Junaluska Rd, turn right onto Big Choga Road. Continue
on Big Choga Road for about 3.3 miles. After crossing
the one lane bridge, Highlander Road is the second road on the
right. DO NOT take the first
entrance to Old Faber Road, the GATE IS PADLOCKED. Just about 10 feet before the pavement ends, turn RIGHT
onto HIGHLANDER ROAD and pass through the gated stone entrance to
Glen Hay. Shortly after the gate, turn RIGHT onto Old Faber Road.
Turn onto the first driveway on the LEFT to get to 'A Lake Memory'
log cabin. Approx. driving time from Andrews is 20 min.
From Hayesville NC:
Take US 64 West for about 10 miles. Turn right onto NC-141, continue
for 8 miles. Turn right onto US 19 N -129 N at the traffic light in
Marble. Take the Andrews/US 19 Business Exit (5.3 miles) and
continue through downtown Andrews until you reach Junaluska Road on
your right, about 2 miles. After about 6 miles on Junaluska Rd, turn
right onto Big Choga Road. Continue on Big Choga Road for about
3.3 miles. After crossing the one lane bridge, Highlander
Road is the second road on the right. DO NOT take the first
entrance to Old Faber Road, the GATE IS PADLOCKED. Just about 10 feet
before the pavement ends, turn RIGHT onto HIGHLANDER ROAD and pass

A shorter route from Hayesville is
via Tuni Gap Road as seen on the map, but that is a US Forest
Service road, one-lane gravel with turnouts for passing. Try it on
one of your return trips to 'A Lake Memory' vacation log cabin for
rent.
From Franklin NC:
Take US 64 W Bypass, turn right onto Patton Rd at about 4 miles,
then left at 0.2 miles onto Wayah Road/NC-1310. This route is a
classic mountain road, very scenic and full of curves. It takes you
by Wayah Bald, then down the mountain and around much of Nantahala
Lake before you reach the junction of Dick's Creek Road/NC-1401 with
Wayah Road at about 18.5 miles. Turn left onto NC-1401, which
becomes Junaluska Road, and continue until you reach Big Choga
Road on your left, about 6 miles. Turn left onto Big Choga Road. Continue
on Big Choga Road for about 3.3 miles. After crossing the
one lane bridge, Highlander Road is the second road on the right. DO NOT take the first
entrance to Old Faber Road, the GATE IS PADLOCKED. Just about 10 feet before the pavement ends, turn RIGHT
onto HIGHLANDER ROAD and pass through the gated stone entrance to

Which is it? Smoky or Smokey?
We spell it both ways on this web site. So, if you're searching for
vacation rental accommodations and log cabins for rent in the "smokey"
mountains, you'll be sure to find us. Both are common spellings. But
if you want to be correct about it, spell it the way the National
Park Service does — the Great Smoky Mountains.
Smokey the Bear, on the other hand, spells his name the other way.
